Quantum Computing, in simple terms, can be defined as an area of computing that harnesses the laws of quantum mechanics to solve complex problems that cannot be solved by classical computers. Quantum computers overcome the limitations of scaling, speed, and complexity faced by classical computers and has immense potential to solve world’s biggest challenges.

Azure Quantum is a cloud-based quantum computing service of Azure which behaves as an open ecosystem with access to diverse hardware, technologies, and software from Microsoft and its partners. Azure Quantum provides a flexible way to create quantum algorithms for multiple platforms at once while allowing the developer to focus on the programming at the algorithm level. Azure Quantum along with Quantum Development Kit provides an environment to write quantum programs/algorithms and run them on real hardware from multiple providers.

Azure Quantum currently offers two types of solutions — quantum computing and optimization. Quantum computing is suitable for simulating typical quantum problems whereas optimization enables to develop complex solutions at reduced costs across every industry. Azure Quantum offers free credits for first-time users to use with participating hardware providers while creating their workspace.
